NZ College of Chiropractic is having their second Open Day of 2020. The College Open Day is a great opportunity for those interested in a future in health care to get a peek into what it looks like to study chiropractic in New Zealand. Uniform Shop (Mon 2 Mar)
The Uniform shop will be open Tuesday 22nd 8am till 9am as usual but will be open 'during lunchtime' and 23rd Thursday only until the end of term next week
It is a good time to drop off second hand uniform items you no longer need either at the shop or at reception. We sell through the shop on your behalf with set pricing. This service not only helps you and the school, it helps parents needing to purchase second hand at a reasonable price.
DTC after school and holiday workshops
S2/S3 (Wed 23 Sep - after school)
This is a reminder to all senior students who are taking DTC with Mr So, that there are afterschool workshops available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 330-5pm every week of school until you leave for study break. If you want more 1-1 and small group feedback, make sure to come along.
Further to these term-based workshop sessions, there will be workshops from 10am-2pm on Tuesday-Thursday (i.e. 29th September to 1st of October), during the upcoming term 3 holidays.
H5L (Wed 12 Feb - 3.30pm - 4.30pm)
Maths Help for ALL year levels is available every WEDNESDAY after school, in room H5L from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Different teachers are present each week. Please come along with your questions, homework or even just to study quietly.

Rubiks Cube Club

Sergeant John Goodwin from the NZ Defence Force will host a talk (via zoom) in the Reading room in the library during lunch, for all students who are interested to learn more about a career in the Defence Forces. Please bring your lunch and come prepared with any questions you would like answered. If you have any queries about this meeting, please see Mrs Lonergan in the Careers office.

Mental Health Awareness Week 21-28 Sept
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and the Mental Health Foundation is the Tawhirimatea House Charity.
Look out for Mufti Day on Wednesday 23 Sept - $2 donation.
Also there will be a Gift basket Raffle to also raise funds - $2 or 3 for $5. In the basket will be a Shopping Voucher, Chocolates and other treats.
Every ticket sold will also receive a sheet of Compliment Stickers.
Tawhiri Service Committee members will be popping in to Form Classes on Mon Tue & Wed to sell tickets, and the prize will be drawn on Thursday.

Word Up! Competition
Calling all rappers, poets, spoken word performers and songwriters… If you write your own material in any word-based genre then we need YOU! 'Word Up!' is an exciting performance competition which gives 13 - 20 year olds the opportunity to present their original work: from rap, poetry and spoken word to song lyrics, or even stand-up comedy. Entries close on October 2 and a range of exciting prizes are up for grabs... including a recording session with David Atai from Nesian Mystik, the opportunity to perform on live TV, and an industry-standard Shure microphone. 2021 ROCKET LAB SCHOLARSHIP
Applications for the Rocket Lab Scholarship are now open!
The Rocket Lab Scholarship covers up to $20,000 in tertiary fees for one outstanding student to pursue a degree or course in STEM education. The recipient is also paired with a Rocket Lab mentor, giving them a rare opportunity for one-on-one experience with a world leading space and engineering expert.
The Rocket Lab Scholarship is open to applicants across the country to encourage and support the next generation of science and engineering innovators. However, applicants who can demonstrate a strong connection to Māhia and the wider Wairoa District in Hawke’s Bay – where Rocket Lab’s New Zealand launch site, Launch Complex 1, is located – are prioritized and strongly encouraged to apply.
